An urban complex was used as an example to point out the problems in fire protection design. Some measures were proposed to design indoor pedestrian street as quasi-security zone, and both sides of the shops as fire units in points of fire-resistant partition, safety evacuation and fire protection system. Similarly, some countermeasures in fire-resistant partition, safety evacuation, fire control facilities and decoration were put forward to ensure IMAX theater’s fire safety. Finally, numerical simulations were carried out to verify the effectiveness of these measures, in order to provide references for fire protection design with the implementation of code for fire protection design of buildings (GB 50016-2014). 
